A Low Cost QP Custom Service designed to minimize the current

90% certification failure rate for first time submissions.

QP's experience with compliance and certification programs has been constant since 1995. To date QP has designed, customized, administers and maintains more 3rd party certification/compliance programs than any other test company. In doing so we closely track the evolution of these programs. We have experienced the industry challenges with the certification submission of most products. It's amazing but true, 90% of first time certification program submitters fail the test criteria. And even more amazing, all tests to be executed are available to the developer and completely detailed (no subjective tests). In addition, QP provides a top ten failure list for all the programs we administer, in an effort to help developers steer clear of typical problems encountered during certification testing. The time for finding high severity problems in a product IS NOT during certification testing.

Why does this happen? We suspect it's a variety of reasons. 1. Developers don't have the time or resources to perform all the testing that they should 2. With the technology ever changing, those assisting to test the product aren't as familiar with the platform as they could be if they had training and/or worked with multiple similar technologies 3. Many organizations don't pay as close attention to boundary and error handling testing, which is as important as functional testing 4. Many organizations don't pay close attention to process tracking across builds, i.e. something that passed a test yesterday may not today if the code base changed 5. In many cases the developer does not have access to the handset and is testing on an emulator version only, etc.

To solve this challenge, QP has designed the Target Test Service. This allows our customer to utilize QP's service for testing earlier in the development cycle, to uncover those problems that may fail certification, prior to formal submission of the application. This service helps to ensure success during first time submissions. The benefit is a low cost solution in assisting our customers in getting a higher quality (certified) product to market sooner. And the Target Test is offered at a lower cost than what a customer would need to pay for a certification re-test in order to achieve a "certified" status.

It's easy and effective. Here's how it works:

QP has in-depth experience with test failures and common problems uncovered across application categories, including failures typically found on a certain device model or with a particular OS version.

The Target Test Service is a quick test service that focuses on testing the common problem areas with the goal of uncovering the most severe problems in the application. QP will run a variety of test types against the application, including but not limited to functional, error handling, boundary, UI, memory handling, etc.

The Target Test duration is 1 - 4 days depending upon the complexity of the application, the application type and whether or not the application supports conduit applications. And, the Target Test service is offered at a lower cost than what a customer would need to pay for a certification re-test. To further contribute to the efficiency of the service, QP utilizes the same test engineering team that provided your Target Test for your certification test.

Our customer can utilize the service at any time in the development cycle and as often as required. For example, if a portion of the code base is ready for test in Alpha, QP will work with the developer to understand the features ready for test and target just the portions of the product ready for test. Our customer can then return to QP later in the development cycle for another Target Test as the code base becomes more mature and ready for further testing.

QP provides clear concise reporting of problems via an on-line secure database and e-mail notification. All problems are isolated and reproduced, in an effort to save the developer valuable time in fixing those problems reported.
